This Network World story offers basic common sense for those entering the cloud:
1) Use different availability zones such ones Amazon Web services offers so when one goes down, you don’t. Use multiple regions, too (this counts as two tips)
2) Use mutiple cloud vendor for when because using different availability zones and regions won’t protect you completely (fact is, nothing will).
3) Write availability in your SLA.
4) Don’t use the public cloud if your customer is super-concerned about availability.
