Eastern China resident, Chunli Fu downloaded the 25 billionth app from the Apple App Store and won a $10,000 iTunes gift card. Fu downloaded a free version of “Where’s My Water?” a physics type puzzle game by Disney.
Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue said in a statement on the apple website that, “We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded. When we launched the App Store less than four years ago,
We never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.” A billion thanks, 25 times over, reads the Apple homepage.
PCMag reports that last year, Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, U.K. won a $10,000 iTunes card when she became the 10 billionth customer of the Apple App Store, where she downloaded the game Paper Glider.
Tim Cook said that Apple "had incredible success with the iPhone" and that in just a few years Apple’s earning in China have gone from zero to $13 billion.
