RickBlaisdell just created content The Future of Cloud Migration

Cloud migration refers to the process of moving data and server workloads from physical or virtual environments into and between cloud environments. Without the right plan and solutions, migrating to the Cloud can be quite complex and costly. For medium and large enterprises, migrating to the cloud becomes a compounded effort. For example, it is very important to document what the end goal will be for the servers being targeted for the migration process. The organization needs to work towards a migration plan that will achieve the most efficiency, agility and cost savings.

In the work I do with entrepreneurs and start-up companies I find that they are frequently unable to clearly articulate their value proposition. We see this most frequently in the “pitch clinics” we conduct to help entrepreneurs prepare for business plan competitions or funding request presentations to venture capitalists.  They clearly understand their business, at least in their own mind, but have great difficulty clearly explaining it.  For instance, last year we had a young Ph.D.

Although enterprises are still in the early stages of adopting Big Data solutions, these technologies are among the fastest-growing cloud-based tools.  The move to cloud computing is challenging the computer industry, and at the heart of this are the Big Data and the built for cloud scalable database platforms that enable it. As demand grows, applications are able to add new computing nodes, and each additional node adds capacity to serve more clients.

I would agree with some of the other comments - Google glass, as with other innovations in wearable technology, is a sign of how things are rapidly evolving. It may seem like a toy now, but lets face it, it was only a few years ago when cell phones were a novelty and a luxury!

mdavis10 just commented on John, I am not sure I would in IT Performance

John, I am not sure I would agree with ZDNet - in fact one of my posts from a few months ago actually argues the opposite!

Whilst cloud based services may be increasingly easy to procure, we still have a long way to go before an end user in any business function can bolt together numerous services to make a complete IT ecosystem.

I would go further and suggest that now more than ever a company needs a top class IT Organisation in order to ensure the interconnectivity and appropriate security that a business needs.

Dynamic Cloud Computing Environments Streamline Business Operations
Thu, 05/09/2013 - 07:45

Mobility and cloud computing are leading the strategic direction for businesses today. From operations to marketing and customer services, each department of a company is influenced by both of these. Business leaders are starting to understand that these technologies are successful only if they rely on a stable IT infrastructure. IaaS is one of the most needed and required cloud computing services as businesses prefer not to spend on large and expensive physical equipment.

Public Safety in the Cloud
Tue, 05/07/2013 - 10:07

I’ve recently read an article on the importance and utility of cloud in several industries: education, marketing companies, online entertainment, healthcare, information technology, finance and banking, telecommunication, hospitality, start-ups and security. I have no doubt that cloud computing apps and services can be of use in every single domain and business.
