Earlier this month BBVA, one of Spain’s largest banks, announced its decision to move its 110,000 staff to a cloud-based Google service for email, calendar and other collaboration tools. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16486796

This news was seen as a breakthrough for corporate adoption of cloud by the financial services industry. Obviously I don’t know the specifics so can’t comment on how concerns around security and regulations were overcome. But, one has to assume that Google persuaded BBVA that all is ok in these regards.

But I wonder how BBVA will hold Google to account in terms of quality of service.

A large UK organization recently shared with us that they use HP Software to monitor the quality of service that its 100,000 employees receive from a Microsoft Public Cloud email and SharePoint service. This allows the organization to hold the provider to account, identify and solve issues more quickly, and support collaboration with the provider so that improvements can be discussed.
